April is the 4th month of the year, and it is named after the Latin word “aperire” meaning ”to open” as it signifies the opening of Spring. The flower associated with April is the Daisy.
A few notable dates:
April is National Pet month – to raise awareness of responsible pet ownership. Myco are a team of pet parents, 7 cats, 1 dog and 2 guinea pigs.
1st April – April Fool’s day – its origin is unknown, but some believe it is linked to Roman Spring festivals, medieval literature and calendar changes in 16th-century France.
4th April – National Carrot Day – carrots can be traced back 5,000 years, believed to originate from Persia (Iran), they naturally come in many colours, white, red and purple to name a few. We mostly know them as orange, and this has been attributed to the Dutch royal family in the 17th-century the House of Orange-Nassau and in honour of them, items were to be mostly orange which of course included the humble carrot.
April 18th – 21st Easter, with our first long weekend of 2025.
April 21st – National Tea Day – Brew more. Do more.
April 25th – St Georges Day – not the dragon slayer from stories, but in fact a Roman soldier who was tortured and beheaded by Rome.
The start of the new financial year is also upon us, and the chance to take stock of the successes of the last 10 months and how we can take these successes forward and improve on them.
